Are you TEST READY?

Theory Test

It is your responsibility to book and attend your theory test, I will always be on hand during the lessons, and via message if you are not too sure about something.  The test is broken down into two sections, Multiple Choice (57 minutes to answer 50 questions with 43 being the pass mark) and Hazard perception (pass mark is 44/75).  You must pass both elements to pass the test.  Click below to see official information regarding the theory test.  A pass certificate lasts for 2 years.  You must pass your practical test in 2 years, if not you will have to start again.

You can start your practical driving training without a theory test pass, you only need a provisional licence to start your training.

Practical skills test

When you book lessons with me, there is always the understanding that in order to use my car for your test, you are TEST READY.  We both have to be confident that you are at the level, where your driving is largely independent.  The elements of the test and the general driving should not need much input from myself.  If you book a test, and the understanding is that you are not test ready, the expectation will be to reschedule the test.

Mock tests can be carried out to assess this prior to your test, and it gives a good gauge as to if we are at that level.  Also when booking the test, you must make sure YOU book a lesson which will cover you for the test duration, to use the car.

It is normal for the instructor to drive you home after the test.

You will find more information below about the test, itself and what to expect.  Of course during our lessons we will discuss the test in more detail.

Test Centres

The ideal location for your practical skills test would be Letchworth, as this is where I operate locally.  I am familiar with other driving test centres such as Stevenage or Luton, but we would need to do lessons in the area, and the lesson covering the test needs to cover the time to get to and from the test centre.
